Jaima (Solie) Salagovic excelled on the soccer field for the Panthers and longtime girls soccer coach Mike Scinto. A part of the 2002 state tournament team, Salagovic chose to play collegiately at the University of Minnesota Morris after graduating from MPA. At UMM, Salagovic earned Academic all-conference in the in each of her four years and was named to the UMAC all-conference first team her senior year.
In 2007, UMM coach Dan Magner reflected on Salagovic and the other five Cougars who made the UMAC all-conference first team that year. “These young women have brought the program to an elite level.” he said. “You cannot replace them; they are all unique and have special gifts that they bring to the team. They have left an indelible and positive mark on the soccer program and UMM. Everyone in the UMM and local community should celebrate these young women and all that they have earned. They are shining examples of what UMM Cougars are all about.”
Salagovic culminated her career by being honored as a regional academic all-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, becoming the fifth ever UMM Cougar women’s soccer player to earn that distinction.
She graduated with a degree in elementary education and now works as a teacher in Colorado Springs, CO.
