There’s “snow” place like the library! Please join us for “stories in the snow” at MPA’s annual book festival on Monday, December 8-Friday, December 12, in the Martin Lenz Harrison Library!
To help us celebrate the festival, the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to build your child’s home library with new books they’ll dive into again and again.
The easiest way to let your child shop the fair independently is by creating an e-wallet. It’s easy to set up and easy for others to add funds. Once you create an e-wallet, you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to Share the Fair—the giving program that supports students at our school who need help buying books. Consider participating so that no child leaves the festival empty-handed.
Please visit MPA’s very own Scholastic website to…
- Set up your child’s e-wallet (Families may still pay with cash or credit card at the event).
- Donate funds to Share the Fair.
- Preview the books at our fair.
- Shop online from Monday, December 8-Friday, December 21(25% of every online purchase directly benefits our library).
Book Fair Purchasing Hours
- Monday, December 8-Tuesday, December 9: 7:30 AM-3:30 PM
- Wednesday, December 10: 7:30-8:30 AM, 12-1 PM, 2:30-4 PM (open later due to after school event)
- Thursday, December 11-Friday, December 12: 7:30-8:30 AM, 12-1 PM, 2:30-3:30 PM
Book Fair Proceeds
Now that we have switched to Scholastic as our book festival vendor, the Parents Association will earn between 40% and 50% of the sale proceeds in Scholastic dollars, which will be donated directly to the library.
Volunteer
This is a great opportunity to volunteer at the book festival! When you give your time, it helps make our fair an unforgettable reading experience where every purchase benefits MPA’s library. Use this link to sign up to volunteer.
Special Events
Join us for one—or both—of our joyful, book-loving events celebrating the book festival. Each is designed to bring our community together in the spirit of creativity, connection, and winter cheer.
Wednesday, December 10 | After-School Story and Craft | 3–4 PM | Family Commons
Bring the whole family for a cozy afternoon filled with snow-themed stories shared by Mr. Ewer and Ms. Kollm. Then, enjoy hot cocoa and cookies while making a winter-themed craft with your student. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the season together.
Thursday, December 11 | Parent Gift-Making Night | 6:30–8:30 PM | Makerspace
Come solo or with friends for this adults-only evening of creativity and connection. Enjoy snacks and beverages while crafting handmade gifts with the help of MPA’s own Makerspace experts: Mr. Braafladt, Mr. Moran, and Mr. Andrews. Choose from laser-engraved bookmarks, hand-bound books, or explore 3D printing. Leave with a heartfelt, handmade gift—and maybe a few new friends too.
Please RSVP by Monday, November 24, if you plan on attending either of the special events.
The MPA Parents Association, in partnership with MPA library staff, hosts this event to enrich and celebrate the library experience for all MPA students. Please contact PA@moundsparkacademy.org with questions or to learn more.
