Matthew Quade, MPA's new Middle School P.E and health teacher. Welcome to MPA, Matthew Quade! Mr. Quade will be joining us this fall as a Middle School physical education and health teacher, and we are thrilled to introduce him to our community.

From what school/organization are you coming?
I am coming from Stamford American International School, located in Singapore.

Tell us about your education and past experience.
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2011. Since then, I have taught physical education for 14 years at four different international schools in Taiwan, China, South Korea, and Singapore.

What did you find appealing about MPA?
I’m incredibly excited to join the Mounds Park Academy community next year! What appealed to me most was the strong sense of belonging. Also, I’m eager to contribute to the experiential learning environment where students truly engage with their education. The balance of academics, arts, and athletics resonates deeply with my values, and I look forward to supporting students in all areas. Most importantly, I’m thrilled to be part of a school prioritizing sustained wellness, ensuring everyone thrives. I can’t wait to become a part of this dynamic and supportive community.

What lasting impact do you plan to have on MPA and its students?
I aim to be a positive role model for MPA students, demonstrating integrity, empathy, and a genuine commitment to their growth. Building strong relationships will be a cornerstone of my approach, fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported. By actively participating in school events, collaborating with colleagues, and connecting with parents, I intend to contribute to a vibrant and thriving community. I believe that these interconnected elements (positive role modeling, relationship-building, and community engagement) will create a lasting, positive impact on the MPA experience for everyone.

What’s your big dream?
My big dream is to make a positive impact in the world by continuing to build strong relationships (with students, colleagues, and community members) and leaving a legacy that I am proud of.

What are you passionate about?
My family’s passion for travel is deeply ingrained in our lives. With 34 countries explored and five different nations called home, we’ve embraced the world as our classroom. Each journey has been a lesson in cultural immersion, broadening our perspectives and fostering a profound appreciation for the diversity of humanity. We believe that travel not only creates lasting memories but also cultivates empathy and understanding, shaping us into global citizens.

What’s a fun fact about you that our community would love to know?
I love to stay active in a variety of ways, including playing all kinds of sports with my kids, playing pick-up basketball, hiking, running, cycling, swimming, and scuba diving.
